Our Story
People spend a lot of time working, yet the typical work experience leaves much to be desired. We’re here to change that.
The Background
The roots of Vibrament first began in a work environment where the culture normalized being overworked and sleep-deprived. Within six months in this environment, there was dramatic decrease in physical health, not only becoming “out of shape,” but also to the development of low-level chronic pain and frequent colds. Despite mission statements about well-being or facilities that include a gym or ping pong table - the prominence and acceptance of “hustle culture” commonly manifested as short-term gains at the cost of over-working, and a decline in personal health and well-being. The disconnect between intention and reality meant that something had to be done.
The Approach
With no immediate answers in sight to what a different approach to work could be, a multi-year long research process began. This grew into an exploration of diverse fields such as movement science, behavioral science, productivity methods, ergonomics, and more.
The Philosophy
Vibrament was founded on the belief that there is a better way of working, a way that feels energizing rather than depleting. Vibrament's methods integrate core traits of being human - movement, play, creativity, and learning - to help people work better. To us, working better doesn't necessarily mean harder or longer, but healthier and happier. Because we've found when you take care of yourself at work, your work flourishes too.
Meet your Coach
Andrea is the head coach and founder of Vibrament.
Her Inspiration
Andrea began her professional career in the design field, where she became intrigued by the lack of resources for living and maintaining a healthy lifestyle within the constraints of an office job and a sedentary work life. While she wanted to feel successful in her work while also maintaining a physically healthy and active lifestyle, she felt an unspoken pressured to choose one or the other - as if the two were incompatible, based on the way she and those around her approach their work. Andrea intuitively felt that here had to be a better solution.
Her Credentials
Andrea first began to look for answers in the field of physical fitness, where she became a certified personal trainer and corrective exercise specialist. She focused on the common ramifications of a sedentary lifestyle and how those could be addressed through movement. Realizing the scope was much larger, she then extended her research into the fields of productivity, behavioral science, and creativity to develop a holistic and systematic approach to work, which can be found in Vibrament. Andrea has a B.S. in engineering with a concentration in ergonomics from Cornell University, an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in multi-disciplinary design, and is certified in personal training (PTAG) and corrective exercise (NASM).
Her Interests
For Andrea, creativity and movement are a part of life. While she may be spotted in a traditional gym, she’s just as likely to be in a circus apparatus or gymnastics class. Her creative adventures range from the experimental study, to content creation and visual art. She takes her work “just seriously enough” to make an impact, while maintaining an enjoyable, playful approach to work.
